Two Swiss pharmaceutical companies closed a deal on the end of October 09. According to this partnership the Novartis’ antiemetic drug Navoban® has been transferred to Alkopharma. This full divestment will relocate the entire worldwide Navoban® business to Alkopharma. Such an Asset will allow a rapid implementation of Alkopharma’s operations in more than 80 countries and in the US market as well. That will confirm Alkopharma as a global business Pharma network company.
This strategy includes the development of in-house industrial resources to sustain the R&D program and the international growth of Alkopharma. A new manufacturing facility is to be built from January 2010 onward in the Swiss Wallis. This industrial plant will include two units, one dedicated to the production of antitumorals and the second to biotech-derived products in cooperation with Wallis Biotech Cluster.
“Proud of our success in completing this deal with such a partner and thanks to previous achievements in the pharmaceutical business, we are definitively oriented toward the care of pathologies in Oncology, Endocrinology and SNC areas. Alkopharma is currently involved in many clinical trials – some of them close to be completed – which will make Alkopharma a major pharmaceutical player in the forthcoming years. That is really exciting for the future and insures the Ethical focus originally took by our company.” said Alain BOUAZIZ, Alkopharma’s President and CEO.
